We are a community of college-aged young adults and young professionals believing for awakening in our souls and awakening in our city.
We believe that Jesus is alive and that “if we have died with Christ,” we “will also live with him” (Romans 6:8, NRSV). An awake soul is one whose whole self is living alive in love with God, who has learned to keep the fire on the altar of their heart burning (Leviticus 6:12, NRSV), and who has found it is their mission to introduce others to this abundant life in God as well. When enough disciples in a city are living with hearts on fire for Jesus, we call that an awakening.
We live this out in discipleship groups, house churches, and worship nights.

DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS
The first words Jesus ever spoke were “The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15, NRSV). Following this pronouncement, his first ministry task was to select a small band of disciples to do and process life with.
We believe that God wants his kingdom to break in through the highs and lows of our everyday lives. One of our first tasks as disciples of Jesus is to spend the time learning from him how to respond -- how to “repent” and “believe” -- through these kairos moments.
As a core part of our discipleship to Jesus, members of the Rock Young Adults community meet regularly in both official and unofficial discipleship groups to process those two main questions -- “What is God saying?” and “What about am I going to do about it?”

HOUSE CHURCHES
Jesus lived a radical lifestyle of prayer, community, and mission. In Acts 2, we see the early church gathering in house-sized groups, committing to the same lifestyle of prayer, breaking bread, and allowing the Lord to add to their number day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-27, NRSV). We believe that authentic community is not something that happens at a church meeting, it happens at a meal.
The Rock Young Adults community meets weekly in house churches to pray together, play together, and live on mission together. We believe that you can be inspired at a meeting, but that you will discover your identity, your community, and your place in God’s kingdom at these meals.

WORSHIP NIGHTS
Just as the early church gathered to pray and believe for God’s Spirit to be poured out, we gather once a month for a night of prayer and worship to believe for awakening in our souls and city.
At the moment, these meetings are paused due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. If you would like to be alerted by text when our next gathering for young adults in the region will be, please text 1(916)526-3092 and say, Rock YA.
